What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is an originality checker software used by DBS to check students' work and provide feedback. The software compares students' work with a wide range of sources to generate a Similarity Report. The Similarity Report highlights sections of text that could potentially be considered plagiarised. Please note that Turnitin does not always check in-text citations and reference lists so it could potentially highlight an area of text that you have referenced in your work.
Turnitin is used as part of an overall DBS strategy to enhance the institution's academic integrity. To support this strategy, all DBS students are required to use Turnitin. This guide provides more information on Turnitin and instructions on how to submit of coursework via Turnitin on Moodle.
As per the DBS Plagiarism Detection Policy, Turnitin is also used as an educational tool. For this reason students are permitted to submit draft copies via Turnitin before the due date.
Please log a ticket with IT through the ServiceDesk if you have any issues with Turnitin.
