The Originaite Project focuses on advancing the field of education by harnessing the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools to enhance the learning experience. This project explores the transformative potential of GenAI technologies in educational practices, aiming to help students and staff learn the best practice and usage of GenAI tools.
The survey aims to evaluate stakeholders' (students, faculty and staff) understanding and utilisation of GenAI tools in higher education. The Originaite Project serves to evaluate and understand practical implementation of GenAI in the education sector, providing valuable insights into the perceived benefits, challenges, and perceptions associated with GenAI integration. By capturing stakeholders' perspectives and experiences through the survey, the OriginAIte Project can adapt its strategies, address concerns, and optimise the implementation of GenAI-driven learning solutions.
The Originaite Project seeks to support educators and students in how they use GenAI tools, how to avoid over-reliance or plagiarism and becoming familiar with various methods and terminologies in the use of GenAI tools such as scaffolding, reverse-scaffolding, and cognitive offloading. The survey data will inform the researchers on how GenAI tools are being used which will help in the formation of workshops through the library on identifying positive and negative use examples to help drive productive GenAI workshops pulling from real data and real DBS case uses.
The survey data collected will provide crucial insights into stakeholders' awareness, usage, and opinions regarding GenAI tools. The survey results will offer actionable insights that inform the refinement and deployment of AI tools in education, ensuring they align with the specific needs and preferences of educators and learners in higher education.
By incorporating the survey findings into the project's research and development process, the Originaite Project endeavours to create innovative workshops and research papers, posters, and presentation on the best use of GenAI and how to pivot from the generally uninformed way we are using it now to a more adaptive and data driven method for using GenAI as a tool to it’s best capability while avoiding pitfalls that come with this technology. This will, in turn, make learning and teaching more accessible, engaging, and impactful for all stakeholders involved.
All future research outputs including data analyses, workshop information, conference papers, publications, and more will be uploaded to this page.
