The format and word count are significantly lower than that of a dissertation. This means that in order to produce a succinct and cohesive journal article, you will be required to modify your dissertation in to a condensed version to meet the necessary word count and format. This can be achieved by:
Ensuring that the research project and findings are original and offer a unique perspective that has not been addressed in existing literature
Ensuring that when adapting your dissertation in to a journal article, you do not simply copy and paste content. The article should be planned in advance and should cover relevant, key pieces of information that formulate your argument
Adapting your introduction to an abstract
Presenting your most important findings in a briefer and more concise manner
Ensuring your research is presented clearly to caption the attention of your key audience
Strengthening your argument through the use of visual aids including graphs and/or charts
Shortening your methodology section
Using back issues (at least three) from the target journal as examples when writing your article
Using a simple storyline approach based on solid research
Exploring one research question on the topic for better clarity and depth. Maybe select the most significant question and focus on that in your article
Following the journal article template for formatting requirements.
