Student Guide

Study rooms

As a student, you can reserve one of the three group study rooms at DBS Library.  After accessing the booking page, select an available time slot and complete the form with your DBS email in order to complete your reservation. You should then receive an email which will confirm your booking

Note that only one hour per day can be booked per student

Library workshops

The library team organises multiple online workshops between 4-5pm Monday to Thursday throughout the year.  When signing up, you can choose to attend the workshop online or to get a recording sent to you after the event has taken place.

This class is designed to introduce you to studying at DBS. It will provide a guide to how you are expected to behave, the skills you will need to complete your work, and the tools that are available to help you do so.

This general information includes: the Learner's Charter, Digital Skills, Behaviours, Study Skills, Academic Etiquette, and more!

  • Understanding the assignment
  • Getting organised
  • Conducting research
  • Taking and making notes
  • Planning the structure
  • Writing, referencing and proofreading

Each step is described and tips are provided.

  • The Library catalogue, eBooks, renewing and reserving Library items
